Development of Circuit Structure for near Field Wireless Power Transmission Using Resonant Coupling

This paper analyses and designs a kind of wireless power transmission system via near field resonant coupling. It introduces the wireless power transmission technology, and combination of traditional inductive coupling and resonance. The project consists of modeling and construction of the hardware to prove the feasibility of wireless power transmission using near field resonant coupling. The hardware constructed for wireless power transmission using near field resonant coupling is based on the numerical calculation. Theoretically calculation was proved where wireless power transfer occurs through resonance calculation. In this method, the coils act as an Inductor Reactance, L X and the capacitor coupling in the circuit acts as Capacitive Reactance, . C X In order to a resonance to occur the Veeradasan Perumal, Azuwa Ali, U. Hashim and Tijjani Adam 100 Capacitive Reactance and Inductor Reactance, L X needs to be equal. In this paper, the frequency value is 141.6 KHz. At this frequency, the circuit is said to be at resonance and the frequency is called the resonant frequency of this circuit. Thus, inductance reactance and capacitance reactance are 239 , Ω respectively. Hence, the equal inductance and capacitance reactance result in power transfer wirelessly. Upon successfully proved the wireless power transmission through resonant coupling, the constructed hardware is used to test feasibility of wireless power through different obstacles. The hardware contains primary and secondary coils which do not connect to each other are separated using few obstacles such as water, metal sheet and cardboard in order to test the feasibility of wireless power transmission in different medium. The hardware also tested with various distances to measure output voltage where transmission efficiency calculated.
